IFI President’s Update

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I trust this message finds you well.

For the past three months, the IFI Executive Board and I have been working closely with our Secretariat Team to strategize, plan, and build up towards delivering the initiatives planned to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in 2013.

We hope that, in the meantime, you are in the process of planning your activities and festivities for World Interiors Day, 26 May 2012. At our end, we are working furiously to have the IFI Interiors Declaration adopted by as many cities around the world as possible. We have some exciting and prominent developments that I hope to be able to share with you very soon.

At this moment, we are making substantial efforts to review, consolidate, streamline, and strengthen our internal management, response systems and structure. As you may recall, during the last two years we implemented historic programs and initiatives with the goal to more clearly delineate the Interiors discipline. Along with this, we focused on reinforcing our outreach and, together with you, building a stronger global community.

In the last few months you may have noticed that we have been a little quieter than normal. At the end of May 2012, with our reorganization and our consolidation in place, we hope to be in a position to better serve you.  I apologize for any omissions or errors you may experience in the meantime and I request your understanding and support. By 1 June 2012 we will be strongly up and running with greater efficiency.

To help accomplish these tasks, our team is changing. Our Treasurer Tessa Barthelmy and team member Katherine Malishewsky are joined by Amanda Davidson, Gaby Lai, and Marcello Ferrara. Two of our valued members, Deirdre Gould and Niduk Wijayasingha, are leaving IFI to explore new challenges. We wish them all success in their new endeavors and have no doubt that they will remain connected to our global community.

With your indispensable and continued support, we, at IFI headquarters, are working vigorously to cultivate greater global collegiality, design excellence, and advocacy for the Interiors discipline and profession worldwide.

We are proud of our progress to date and most enthusiastic with our collective opportunities. We are confident that with these internal changes and sound planning, that we will be able to bring to fruition our progressive initiatives successfully.

We thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. As always, we look forward to your comments and suggestions.
