Can AI Feel? Spatial Interpretations through Human-AI Collaboration
Aligned with the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers’ (IFI) 2025 theme “Emotive Design, Experience and Al,” the workshop entitled “Can AI Feel? Spatial Interpretations through Human- AI Collaboration” organised as part of EMU Design Week event. The workshop examined the potential of artificial intelligence as a co-author in the design of emotion-infused interior environments. Interior architecture students engaged in a critical and experimental process where emotion operated as both concept and generator.
Guided by affective prompts, participants engaged in spatial inquiry using Al-assisted tools to articulate atmospheric conditions and sensory narratives. The workshop opened a dialogue between emotional design intuition and machine-guided design, questioning how emotional depth could be achieved through artificial means.
