SWIFT* – Design Fiction Workshop at HKDI

IFI is proud to support our member, Hong Kong Design Institutes (HKDI) newest workshop:

SWIFT* – Innovation among Swiss and Hong Kong Students

On 22 July 2019, over 60 students in the programs of Design, Engineering, and Business, from Switzerland, Belgium, India, Honduras, France, Spain, Serbia, Senegal, Italy, and Hong Kong gathered at HKDI for SWIFT*, an eight (8) hour design hack-a-thon dedicated to exploring future scenarios in resolving critical social issues in Hong Kong for the areas of healthcare, ageing, youth mental health, and the environment.

Creative juices flowed throughout the entire day! Students of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne University of Art and Design (ECAL), eight (8) member schools of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Australia (HES-SO), and HKDI worked in teams and presented end products in the format of a catalog or 3D-printed prototype – all of which have been uploaded onto the HKDI virtual online shopping website for judging.

The workshop was honoured to welcome invited guest and judging panelist, Mr. Andreas Rufer – Depurt Consul General of Switzerland in Hong Kong. Four selected teams were awarded Swatch watches sponsored by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Hong Kong, which also arranged a cocktail reception for the event. HKDI thanks EPFL, whom coordinated with the other nine (9) Swiss Institutions and generated the workshop content with HKDI DESIS Lab, and to Grove Sandwiches for providing snacks and refreshments to workshop participants.
